Howard – Coonan Still Working For The Media Mafia

Australia’s politicians and bureaucrats continue to bury the local information technology industry mainly by contracting more and more government and related ICT to offshore outsourcing centres through convenient intermediaries like Accenture ( previously Arthur Anderson and responsible for Enron USA corruption and bankruptcy), Deloitte, IBM and others. The politicians don’t know a thing about technology or the economics, and take their queue from the mandarins who in turn get their direction from these same multinationals and in the process the mandarins get a dual career path paved as a payoff for when they leave government.
Now after almost 10 years the ignorant but media mafia-loyal politicians and their flunkeys the bureaucrats, are still stifling Australia’s gradually receding unique opportunity to take a world leading position in building and delivering free interactive digital TV to all Australians.
As expected Howard and Coonan (both ozzy lawyers) have maintained the same DTV status Howard’s previous communications minister Alston handed the media oligarchs almost 10 years ago. This is what they want you to believe is in the public interest, but is not and in fact is in the governments interest and the media monopoly’s interest.
They have now conveniently protected the media status quo by extending the analog transmission switch-off date another 5 or more years and also maintained preventing a 4th national network. Did you vote for these morons?
This is nothing less than outrageous and is costing Australia and all Australians enormously. It is an opportunity unprecedented in Australia’s history and a bunch of ignorant arrogant mealy-mouthed politicians and their loyal sycophantic mandarins continue to claim to know best for the majority.

Once again an Economic Bill of Rights is the best way to get a 4th network and free digital TV for all Australians and prune corrupt inept spineless government. Unless you like funding the entrenched media mafia and their government granted license to print money, while you get more and more analog rubbish pumped out to you through the economically inefficient use of public spectrum.
You have the choice but the political and media status quo do not want you fully informed about just what the choice is. Naturally and in alliance with the government of the day they want you kept in the dark and about the long-term economic cost to you and the nation.
Wake up, this unique opportunity is being slowly but surely lost. And it is rapidly converging into the same issue as the local ICT industry being lost to offshore outsourcing.
