After decades it should be obvious to anyone that if you do not have the same views as the political status quo then you do not have a view. However for the younger generation (what the sociologists call gen X, or was it gen Y…?) without the experience of a decade or more of voting and participating in the political status quo’s version of their process of democracy, this is not yet so obvious that they could pick up on it and the fact they are being brainwashed to conform more as they age. They are manipulated to believe they are cool and trend setters in all respects. But true cool would be if they demanded multichannel iDTV free of the old media oligarchs and their role as the political status quo’s propaganda apparatus.Do they, and for that matter their older generation attachments, comprehend that a media monopoly owned and controlled by less than a handful of old media oligarchs licensed to use public assets economically inefficiently by the political status quo (most of them mediocre lawyers, which should tell Australians something but apparently doesn’t), is a propaganda machine both stakeholders must maintain, even as the baton is passed on to young media economic and technology illiterate heirs, and who are quite happy to go along with anything their senior advisers tell them and will protect their asset and inheritance value at the gross and blatant expense of the national economic and public interest benefit?The older generation might now have accepted they have been efficiently manipulated and brainwashed for decades but naturally enough aren’t going to fess up to their gen X ( or was it Y) offspring. This would leave them open for more ridicule than most are probably already subject to. Gen X/Y of course are yet to figure out just how expert this status quo propaganda apparatus is after decades and as it works on them relentlessly. They have a solution of course and as we mentioned above. To demand it is now the test of their awareness and commitment.
